First created in 1790 as a gift for Empress Catherine the Great of Russia—one of history’s most renowned collectors of porcelain—Royal Copenhagen’s Flora Danica dinnerware remains one of the world’s most exclusive porcelain collections. Each piece is hand-painted in Denmark with motifs from the historic Flora Danica encyclopaedia and meticulously hand-finished with 24-carat gold.
The process begins with reaching out to Kneen & Co. From first conversation to final creation, our team ensures the journey is seamless, personal, and refined. Together with Royal Copenhagen, we work with each client to customize motifs and refine a color palette, so that every piece of the service may be entirely unique. There are no rules—the process is completely bespoke. Each piece may pass through more than twenty master artisans before completion, a process so intricate it can take up to a year.
Please note: images shown represent only one example of this extraordinary service. With hundreds of motifs to choose from, each commission is entirely individual.

Hand-painted. Hand-finished. Extraordinary.
