The Saint-Louis Bubbles Champagne Flute is the core champagne piece in the Bubbles stemware range, with a tall, narrow bowl set on the collection’s stacked crystal marble stem. The slim bowl preserves effervescence and concentrates aromatics, and air bubbles dot the parison in the collection’s characteristic pattern. In clear crystal, the marble stem catches light along each sphere with particular brilliance alongside the effervescence of the champagne within.
Every piece in the Bubbles collection is mouth-blown and hand-cut at the Cristallerie Saint-Louis in Lorraine, France. The stacked crystal marble stems that define the stemware and footed cup pieces are formed individually and assembled by hand, and the air bubbles that dot the parison of each piece are trapped deliberately during the blowing process through the glassblower’s precise control of the crystal’s internal structure. The colored pieces are produced through Saint-Louis’s masse coloring technique, in which metallic oxides are introduced during the melt to produce colors of exceptional saturation and consistency.
The Bubbles collection was designed by Welsh artist Teleri Ann Jones in 1992, making it one of the earliest contemporary design collaborations in Saint-Louis’s modern history. The inspiration came from the glowing drop of molten crystal at the end of the glassblower’s pipe — fragile and powerful at once, suspended between fire and form. Jones translated that vision into two signature elements: a mischievous stack of crystal marbles on the stem, giving the sensation of sparkling bubbles ascending in a straight line; and the parison dotted with captured air bubbles, scattered across the bowl like champagne in crystal. Vibrant and sensual, Bubbles renewed the art of colored crystal at Saint-Louis and has become one of the maison’s most recognized and celebrated designs. It spans a complete table and bar service, complemented by decorative objects including candleholders, vases, and bowls. Established in 1586, Saint-Louis stands as Europe’s oldest crystal manufacturer, holding the title of Royal Cristallerie since 1781.
