The Ginori 1735 Volière Bianco Tea Saucer is the quiet partner to a more colorful cup: white porcelain with a delicate floral pattern in gold. Set it beneath a Volière bird tea cup, like the Tangara du Canada, and let the bird be the one who speaks.
Each saucer is made in fine porcelain at Manifattura Ginori, just outside Florence, and follows the soft lines of the Impero shape, named for the Empire style. The gold is painted by hand, so it catches the light the way only real gold can.
Volière means aviary in French, and the collection began with a set of nineteenth-century bird sketches found in the Ginori 1735 archives. Set among warm florals and gold, the birds are made to be mixed, so a table with several of them feels collected rather than matched. Ginori 1735, founded near Florence in 1735, is one of Europe’s oldest porcelain makers.
