The MEISSEN New Cutout Ming Dragon Cappuccino Cup & Saucer Black holds 8.5 ounces, enough for a cappuccino and its layer of foam. Cup and saucer share the petal-like contours of the New Cutout service by Johann Joachim Kaendler. A hand-painted black dragon decorates the cup, with orange flame motifs and gold at the rims and handle.

It is the largest cup in the service, alongside the coffee, tea, and espresso cups. Since the Ming dynasty, the dragon has stood for strength, wisdom, and change in Chinese porcelain. MEISSEN renders the motif through hand-painting and modern technique, so each piece carries the character of its artisans alongside the consistency of its craft.
