The MEISSEN New Cutout Ming Dragon Dessert Plate Black, 7.9 in is sized for dessert, cheese, or a small first course. Its scalloped rim, shaped like flower petals, follows the New Cutout form modeled by Johann Joachim Kaendler. A hand-painted black dragon chases a flaming pearl across the white center, surrounded by orange flame motifs and blossom medallions, with a fine gold rim.
Layer it on the 11 inch dinner plate or use it on its own for dessert service. Ming dynasty porcelain made the dragon a symbol of imperial power and good fortune. MEISSEN draws on that tradition in its Ming Dragon decor, painted at the manufactory in Germany, where porcelain has been made for more than three centuries.
