The MEISSEN New Cutout Ming Dragon Dinner Plate Black, 11 in is the largest plate in the service, for the main course or as the base of a layered place setting. Its gently scalloped rim follows the New Cutout form created by Johann Joachim Kaendler. A hand-painted black dragon chases a flaming pearl across the white center, surrounded by orange flame motifs and blossom medallions, with a fine gold rim.
Pair it with the soup plate, dessert plates, and bread plate of the same decor for a complete place setting. The dragon has defined the language of Chinese porcelain since the Ming dynasty, an emblem of wisdom and renewal. MEISSEN has painted its interpretation of the motif since 1910, pairing it with the classic forms of its own tradition.
