The Saint-Louis Amadeus Water Glass No. 2 is the mid-sized stemware in the Amadeus series, proportioned for wine service and versatile enough to stand in for a water glass at a more relaxed table. Its rounded bowl and slender stem carry the same graceful silhouette as the rest of the collection, and in clear crystal it serves as an understated complement to the more vivid colored hocks that may accompany it. It is an equally satisfying glass to use alone or as part of a complete Amadeus service.
Every piece in the Amadeus collection is mouth-blown and hand-cut by master artisans at the Cristallerie Saint-Louis in Lorraine, France. The bowl, stem, and foot are each formed separately and then assembled by hand using techniques transmitted through generations of the maison’s glassmakers. A delicate ring decoration marks the junction of bowl and stem, lending each glass a measured rhythm and tactile detail that rewards close attention. Seven artisans contribute their expertise to each single glass over the course of three days.
The Amadeus collection takes its name and spirit from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose music achieves an impression of effortless beauty through extraordinary discipline and craft. Saint-Louis conceived the collection as a parallel: forms that appear to have arrived at their elegance naturally, concealing the virtuosity required to realize them. Amadeus is produced at the Cristallerie Saint-Louis in Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche, Lorraine, the oldest crystal manufactory in Europe, which has held the title of Royal Cristallerie since 1781.
