Saint-Louis Plurielle Medium Vase, Cross Cut

The Saint-Louis Plurielle Medium Vase, Cross Cut, is a clear crystal vase in which the body is cut with a cross-cut pattern: perpendicular lines that bring crystal and light into a ceaseless interplay of diffraction. The cross cut creates a different optical effect from the diagonal variant, its perpendicular geometry catching light from a wider range of angles. Its closed neck accommodates both single stems and fuller arrangements, and the vase reads equally well as a decorative object without flowers.

The Plurielle vases are produced at the Cristallerie Saint-Louis in Lorraine, mouth-blown and hand-cut from clear leaded crystal. The diagonal and cross cuts are applied by hand in the cold atelier, and the regularity and depth of the cuts must be maintained across the full surface of each form to achieve the optical effects — the light-capturing quartets and the ceaseless interplay of diffraction — that distinguish the collection.

The Plurielle collection is built on the idea of multiplicity and combination. Two cut variants — diagonal and cross — are offered in the same form and size, designed to be combined and arranged freely. The diagonal cut creates a first quartet that captures light magnificently through the transparency of the crystal; the cross cut brings crystal and light into a ceaseless interplay of diffraction. Saint-Louis invites owners to compose their own arrangements: two vases of different sizes in conversation, a large cross-cut contrasted with two small diagonal-cut pieces. The vases don’t have a monopoly on flowers — purely voluminous shapes come to life in architectural settings as standalone decorative objects. Established in 1586, Saint-Louis stands as Europe’s oldest crystal manufacturer, holding the title of Royal Cristallerie since 1781.
