The Saint-Louis Rabat Red Tea Tumbler is a small, hand-cut crystal glass for tea service, presented in a vivid ruby red crystal with hand-applied 24-karat gold decoration with hand-applied 24-karat gold decoration. The compact size is calibrated for tea service — the small volume concentrates the aroma and the ritual of the pour — and the combination of gemstone-toned crystal and gold gives each tumbler a quality closer to jewelry than tableware. It works equally well for tea, liqueur, and small spirits service.
The Rabat tea tumblers are produced at the Cristallerie Saint-Louis in Lorraine, mouth-blown and hand-cut, with the 24-karat gold decoration applied by hand before firing. The colored versions — red, green, dark blue, purple — achieve their vivid gemstone tones through Saint-Louis’s masse coloring technique, in which metallic oxides are introduced during the crystal melt to produce a consistent hue throughout the body.
The Rabat collection takes its name and inspiration from the capital city of Morocco, drawing on the rich tradition of decorative tea service central to Moroccan hospitality culture. With their golden and warm colors, the tumblers invite a journey through the Maghreb: the gemstone hues recall the brilliance of Moroccan decorative arts from the zellige tiles of the medina to the hammered metalwork of the souks, while the 24-karat gold decoration adds the warmth and ceremony of a culture where tea is a gesture of welcome. The collection is as suited to tea service as it is to spirits and liqueur, and its small scale makes each tumbler as much a jewel as a vessel.
