Venini Murrine Romane Vase
$4,760.00
Rome is brought back to life through purity of form and simplicity of geometry in the Murrine Romane Vase. The Murrine technique, which was used by the Romans, creates the multicolor pattern displayed on this vase. Patterns are made by melting glass canes together that are then cut into cross-sections to reveal the pattern inside. These sections are heated up again in order to blow them into the final shape. The striking colors used in the patterned glass not only evoke a dreamlike world but reference the frescoes that once adorned Ancient Rome. This hand-crafted vase was designed by Carlo Scarpa for Venini in 1940. Murrine Romane is limited to a numbered edition each year.
Handcrafted in Murano, Italy.
