The Bernardaud Augusta Bread and Butter Plate brings the boldest color to the place setting, set just above the forks for bread and butter, petits fours or a small dessert. Its wide rim is laid in mosaic tiles that deepen from soft green and gold near the center to emerald at the edge.
Augusta takes its name from Augustoritum, as Limoges was known under the Roman Empire, and its pattern looks back to an era equally drawn to antiquity. Art Deco designers reduced ornament to clean figures borrowed from Cubism and the art of ancient Greece and Rome, and here that discipline is distilled to a single band of color.
Made in Limoges porcelain with gold decoration, the bread and butter plate completes a layered Augusta setting with the dinner, salad and service plates.
Each piece sold separately.
