The Bernardaud Augusta Open Vegetable Dish carries roasted vegetables, warm grains and seasonal sides to the table in a low, generous form. A slender band of green and gold mosaic traces the rim and leaves the white porcelain open, so the food sets the color.
In Augusta, the mosaic appears as a frieze on some pieces and as an all-over carpet on others. Here it is pared back to a single frieze, an Art Deco gesture of restraint that pairs easily with the more richly patterned salad bowl and service plate.
Bernardaud has made porcelain in Limoges since 1863, with the hand present at every stage of each piece.
