The Bernardaud Augusta Salad Plate opens a dinner with a first course or closes it with dessert, and it is the most graphic piece in the collection. Lines of emerald, soft green and gold mosaic fan out across the rim from a clean white well.
The radiating fan is a signature of the Art Deco period, when designers left behind the flowing curves of Art Nouveau for order, rhythm and line. Set on the Augusta dinner plate, its bold geometry plays against the finer gold grid beneath, so the setting reads as one composition rather than a matched set.
Bernardaud has made porcelain in Limoges since 1863, and every piece passes through many hands before it reaches the table.
Each piece sold separately.
