The MEISSEN New Cutout Ming Dragon Dinner Plate Purple, 11 in is the most generous plate in the service, made to hold the main course or serve as a striking base for a layered setting. Its gently scalloped rim, reminiscent of delicate petals, comes from the New Cutout form created by Johann Joachim Kaendler. A hand-painted purple dragon spans the center among flame motifs, while blossom medallions and a gold rim finish the border with quiet refinement.

Dragons have defined the language of Chinese porcelain since the Ming dynasty, embodying the sun, light, the rhythm of nature, and the energy of Yang. MEISSEN draws on that symbolism for its Ming Dragon décor, uniting the precision of the painter’s brush with innovative technology in a design rooted in 1910.
